If you are caring for someone who is sick or disabled

You may be able to claim Carer’s Allowance if you are caring for someone else for at least 35 hours per week. This will depend for example on your earnings (you need to be earning less than £110 per week) and what benefits the person you are caring for claims.

If you are unemployed you may be able to claim Carer’s Allowance and Income Support instead of JSA or UC, and it can increase the amount of other benefits you get, for example Housing Benefit. Get advice. Apply online at www.gov.uk or ring the Jobcentre Plus Carers Allowance helpline.
